The Rise of Central Vietnam as a Golf Powerhouse

For years, Central Vietnam has quietly been making its mark on the global golf map, offering a treasure trove of world-class courses that attract golf enthusiasts from all over the world. But in 2025, this area will move beyond being a well-kept secret, as the region ramps up its visibility on the international golf scene.

“Central Vietnam is hitting its stride as a world-class golf destination, and 2025 presents an exciting opportunity to solidify our position on the global stage,” says Stephen Banks, Director of Golf at Laguna Golf Lang Co. “This year, we’re focused on showcasing the region’s exceptional offerings to new markets and reinforcing our commitment to growing the game here in Vietnam.”

And indeed, the region has much to offer. From courses designed by golfing legends such as Sir Nick Faldo, Luke Donald, Colin Montgomerie, and Greg Norman, Central Vietnam’s golf scene is nothing short of extraordinary. Laguna Golf Lang Co, for example, features an award-winning, Sir Nick Faldo-designed course, while the Montgomerie Links course, designed by Colin Montgomerie, combines stunning ocean views with challenging fairways. Not to be overlooked, Ba Na Hills Golf Club, designed by Luke Donald, has quickly become a fan favorite thanks to its lush landscape and immaculate greens.

2025 Events: A Calendar Brimming with Excitement

One of the most significant aspects of the region’s rise to prominence is its packed events calendar for 2025, with several high-profile tournaments and conferences slated to take place across its acclaimed courses. Among the most exciting events is the return of the Asia Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC) to Danang, from April 2-4, 2025. The AGTC is one of the biggest events in Asia’s golf tourism calendar, drawing over 50 global representatives from golf tourism boards, travel agencies, and media outlets. All three Vietnam Golf clubs – Laguna Golf Lang Co, Montgomerie Links, and Ba Na Hills Golf Club – will host pre- and post-event activities, further cementing the region’s status as a premier golfing destination.

In addition to the AGTC, the Asia Grand Final of the Faldo Series will return to Laguna Golf Lang Co, the home course of the world-renowned Sir Nick Faldo Signature Design. This event, which gathers young and aspiring golfers from across the continent, will be another major highlight for 2025, underscoring the region’s commitment to growing the sport at all levels.

Two more international tournaments that promise to elevate the region’s profile are the Danang Invitational World Golf Championship (June 2-12) and the Vietnam World Masters Golf Championship (September 7-13). These prestigious events will not only draw top-tier golfers but also shine a spotlight on the beauty and diversity of Central Vietnam.

A Blend of Culture and Golf

It’s not just about the sport – Central Vietnam is also about the experience. The region offers an eclectic mix of cultural events that will enhance the appeal of any golf trip. The Danang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF 2025), running from May 31 to July 12, will bring vibrant celebrations to the city, with six nights of dazzling pyrotechnic displays set against the stunning backdrop of the Han River. This festival will be a perfect complement to any golf trip, offering visitors a chance to experience the cultural heart of Vietnam.

Further north, the historic city of Hue will take center stage as the host of Vietnam’s National Tourism Year 2025. Known for its UNESCO-listed monuments, imperial palaces, and stunning natural landscapes, Hue will host a series of exciting events, providing golfers with the perfect blend of sport and culture.

A Global Strategy and New Routes to the Region

With golf’s popularity growing around the world, Central Vietnam’s push to become a golfing mecca is being fueled by a targeted international strategy. Laguna Golf Lang Co, in particular, is placing a heavy emphasis on promoting the region in Australia and New Zealand. Following successful 2024 roadshows, the club is preparing to continue its marketing efforts in these regions, which have long had an affinity for golf.

Beyond the strategic marketing campaigns, the addition of new air routes will make it easier than ever for golfers to access Central Vietnam. In 2025, Danang International Airport will resume direct flights to major destinations such as India’s New Delhi and MumbaiJapan’s Nagoya and Osaka, and Qatar’s Doha. These new routes will make travel to Central Vietnam even more convenient, welcoming an influx of international golfers eager to experience the region’s courses and resorts.

Sustainability at the Forefront

As the region gears up for a busy 2025, sustainability remains a key focus. Laguna Golf Lang Co, along with its partner courses Thanh Lanh and Royal Long An, is working to position Vietnam as a leader in both junior golf development and sustainable tourism. A proposal to host the Faldo Vietnam Open, a junior golf tournament, will further solidify the region’s commitment to nurturing young talent.

“We’re not just focused on delivering exceptional golf experiences,” says Simon Mees, General Manager at Ba Na Hills Golf Club. “We also want to ensure that we’re operating in harmony with the environment and the local communities. The natural beauty of Central Vietnam is one of our greatest assets, and we’re committed to preserving it for future generations.”

The Road Ahead: Vietnam Golf Coast’s Bright Future

As Central Vietnam continues to grow as a global golf hub, 2025 will be a pivotal year. With a packed calendar of high-profile events, expanding international reach, and a commitment to sustainability, the region is primed to attract golfers from around the world. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or an enthusiastic beginner, the Vietnam Golf Coast promises a thrilling, unforgettable experience that combines world-class golf, luxurious resorts, and the charm of Vietnamese culture.
