This latest addition to the EDITION Hotels collection, The Red Sea EDITON, marks a defining moment for the brand and for Saudi Arabia’s fast-evolving travel landscape. Following the success of The Jeddah EDITION, this debut on Shura Island invites travellers to experience a destination unlike any other: one that merges untouched natural beauty, regenerative design, and world-class sophistication.

A Visionary Arrival on the Red Sea

Perched along a kilometre of private beachfront, The Red Sea EDITION offers uninterrupted views across crystalline waters and the lush greens of Shura Links, Saudi Arabia’s first 18-hole island golf course, designed by the acclaimed Brian Curley. This resort is the first to open on Shura Island — a jewel in the crown of Red Sea Global (RSG), the developer behind one of the world’s most ambitious regenerative tourism projects.

Once complete, Shura Island will be home to a constellation of ultra-luxury resorts, fine dining establishments, marinas, and entertainment hubs — all part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plan to redefine the kingdom as a global epicentre for sustainable, experience-led tourism. The Red Sea project itself spans an archipelago of 90 pristine islands, fringed by the world’s fourth-largest barrier reef, home to coral gardens, rare marine species, and sun-dappled lagoons that rival the Maldives.

“The opening of The Red Sea EDITION marks a significant milestone in the brand’s continued growth across the region,” says George Fleck, Senior Vice President and Global Brand Leader at EDITION. “It embodies the EDITION ethos — crafting spaces that feel deeply attuned to their surroundings while delivering an experience that transcends conventional luxury.”

Arrival Through the Desert

Guests begin their journey at the Red Sea International Airport, where they are whisked away across the desert landscape, traversing Saudi Arabia’s longest internal bridge before arriving on Shura Island. At the end of a palm-lined drive, the resort reveals itself: a series of minimalist pavilions crafted from local stone and timber, perched elegantly along the beach. The arrival experience blends EDITION’s hallmark understated glamour with a distinctly regional soul — a balance of warmth and precision.

Inside, 240 elegantly designed guest rooms — including 53 suites — showcase EDITION’s refined simplicity. The interiors, envisioned by Rockwell Group, are rooted in natural materials and soft hues that echo the rhythm of sea and sand. Coral stone floors, natural oak finishes, and a neutral palette create a calming refuge. Many suites open onto expansive terraces with private plunge pools and direct beach access, while panoramic windows frame views of either the Red Sea or the lush golf course beyond.

Design in Dialogue with Nature

Every detail of The Red Sea EDITION celebrates harmony between architecture and the environment. Earth-toned walls, coral stone, and custom rooftops shaped like coral formations blur the line between built structure and the surrounding landscape. The design philosophy is narrative-driven — each pavilion a story of connection between desert, reef, and sea.

The lobby — EDITION’s signature social heart — is bathed in natural light, framed by floor-to-ceiling windows that open to the ocean breeze. Warm rammed earth walls and sculptural ceramics echo the canyons of Saudi Arabia’s deserts, while lush greenery softens the edges. It is a space that transforms seamlessly throughout the day — from morning coffee and conversation to vibrant evening gatherings.

A Culinary Journey of Discovery

At The Red Sea EDITION, dining is not just sustenance — it’s a narrative. The resort’s culinary programme blends global innovation with local inspiration, guided by a philosophy of wellness, sustainability, and social connection.

Central, the resort’s main restaurant, reimagines modern American cuisine with global flair. Mornings begin with thoughtful, wellness-driven breakfasts, while evenings unfold with elevated comfort dishes like Duck Meatball Spaghetti and inventive New Orleans-style Jambalaya, paired with handcrafted beverages.

By the sea, JIWA Beach Club channels the spirited essence of Bali, led by Indonesian chefs who bring a lively rhythm to Shura Island. Days here are sun-drenched and vibrant, filled with the scent of coconut, spice, and sea salt. As night falls, JIWA transforms — bonfires flicker, drums echo across the sand, and DJs bring the beach to life beneath a canopy of stars.

For a more tranquil experience, JIWA Terrace offers a wellness-focused retreat serving hydrating elixirs and nutrient-rich dishes designed to nourish both body and mind. Terracotta tones, soft greenery, and private cabanas create an atmosphere of coastal serenity.

This December, the resort will welcome ANASA, the signature restaurant helmed by celebrated Saudi chef Basma Elkhereiji. Known for her elegant simplicity and commitment to local sourcing, Chef Basma’s Aegean-inspired menu celebrates the spirit of the Red Sea with Mediterranean freshness and a sense of conviviality.

Wellness, Reimagined

Wellbeing lies at the heart of The Red Sea EDITION’s experience. The spa and gym are sanctuaries of light and texture, where sunlight filters through timber screens and coral stone surfaces to create a meditative atmosphere. Treatments draw on the natural elements of the surrounding landscape — the sea’s rhythm, the desert’s stillness, and the sky’s vastness.

Signature rituals by Omorovicza and Le Labo incorporate heated sea stones and mineral-rich wraps, while the Recovery Dome features hydrothermal experiences — from infrared and bio saunas to snow showers — that balance the body’s natural energy cycles.

Fitness enthusiasts will find state-of-the-art facilities offering HIIT, Reformer Pilates, and outdoor social wellness experiences such as paddle tennis, desert hikes, and water sports.

A New Chapter for Saudi Luxury

With more than 1,000 square metres of event space, including a grand ballroom overlooking the sea, The Red Sea EDITION is poised to become the island’s cultural and social nexus.

As Tony Coveney, Area General Manager for Marriott Luxury Group, explains: “Opening The Red Sea EDITION represents a major milestone — not just for the brand, but for the entire destination. We are honoured to be the first to open on Shura Island and proud to define a new era of luxury hospitality in Saudi Arabia.”

In its quiet confidence and striking natural beauty, The Red Sea EDITION encapsulates the new face of Saudi travel — where regenerative luxury meets cultural depth, and where every sunrise over the Red Sea feels like the start of a new discovery.
