THE HOXTON BARCELONA BRINGS SOPHISTCATED LUXURY NEAR SAGRADA FAMILIA

City Hotels, Hotels, News

The Hoxton will open its doors on Monday 25th April, in the creative neighborhood of El Poblenou. Bringing its much-loved lobby culture, destination dining, community partnerships, and destination-inspired bedrooms to Spain for the first time, The Hoxton promises to be something completely new for Barcelona.

A destination for locals and guests, the hotel will have 240 rooms, an impressive rooftop and pool with views over Sagrada Famillia, and will also be home to Tope, a rooftop bar and taqueria; and Four Corners, a ground-floor pizza restaurant that will spill out onto a sunny terrace, slice shop and bodega. To one side of the large and bright lobby, three meeting and events spaces make up The Apartment, along with La Cave, a multifunctional basement space that will host local cultural programming and community events.

The brand’s 11th hotel, The Hoxton has gone from strength to strength in recent years, having rooted itself into some of the most exciting and interesting neighborhoods across Europe and North America. Locations currently include London (Shoreditch, Holborn and Southwark), Paris, Amsterdam, Rome (opened May 2021), New York, Portland, Chicago and Downtown LA. Each hotel is designed and curated with its neighborhood front of mind, enhancing experience through brand and retail partnerships unique to that destination, hand-picked vintage furniture from local sellers, galleries showcasing independent, unsung emerging talents, community-focused social events, and charity- supporting Good Neighbours initiatives.

Rooms

The hotel’s 240 bedrooms have been designed to reflect their location. Embracing the sun and sea of Barcelona, rooms feel Mediterranean with terracotta floors, faded florals and a serene color palettes. Handcrafted tapestries hang above statement headboards, and floor-to-ceiling windows flood the spaces with light. Rooms are generously sized and spread across five categories, including a brand new ‘Homey’ category which suits families and longer staying guests with functional kitchens and the option of two double beds. Catalan artist, Jose Antonio Roda has illustrated room keys and collateral; artwork in the rooms is curated by Barcelona-based John Brown Projects, and all rooms feature neighborhood guides with local recommendations and bookshelves are curated by Hox Friends.

Tope

Up on the roof with knock-out views of Sagrada Familia and over the city, Tope is a bar and taqueria with a rotating menu of tacos on house-made tortillas. On sunny days — of which Barcelona has plenty — guests can enjoy frozen margaritas pulled from the poolside slushie machine, wines on tap from local Spanish vineyards, and beers from small local breweries. A sister to Tope Portland which opened atop The Hoxton Portland in 2018, Tope Poblenou will have a neat list of classic tacos featuring slow-cooked meats, charred vegetables and flavorful sauces as well as tasty snacks to tuck into over an evening of drinks.

Four Corners

On the ground floor of the hotel, Four Corners is a pizza restaurant, sun terrace, slice shop and bodega. Fresh out of London where it ran as a four-month pop-up in Rondo La Cave and was met with rave reviews, Four Corners specializes in deep-dish Detroit-style pizza served in square pies or slices, and is overseen by New York based pizzaiolo, Anthony Falco. Thick and chunky bases are light and baked fresh, with toppings including Mortadella and pistachio pesto, Soppressata with spicy honey, and classic red top. Four Corners Poblenou will be open all-day everyday for eat-in and takeout (as well as room service). Alongside pizza, the menu will include small plates using fresh and local produce, salads, classic cocktails and natural wines.
