The Curtain Club at The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin is the bar of the year. With all of its unusual souvenirs from around the globe, The Curtain Club looks like an international living room in which guests from the entire world feel directly at home.
“The Glenfiddich Award for Bar Culture is a very special honour for us because this involves not only creative drinks but also the ambience and soul of a bar, which is supported by the entire bar team,” says bar manager Arnd Heissen.
“Every evening starting at 6:00 p.m., we celebrate our very own bar culture in The Curtain Club – whether this is with our Beefeater Robert Lee who opens the heavy curtain in a festive ceremony at the beginning of the evening or with very special shows in which the light, music and skill of the respective bartenders display a perfect interaction,” Arnd Heissen continues.
In addition, this experienced team prepares all of the infusions, concentrates and syrups for extraordinary cocktails such as “Dia de los Muertos” and “The Poet and The Alchemist” by hand. Fruits, vegetables and herbs are freshly served every evening and originate in part from the Berlin hotel’s own organic fields.
Since 2004, the Single Malt Scotch Whisky Glenfiddich has presented the Award for Bar Culture, which is one of the most distinguished awards for extraordinary bars in Germany. A total of ten bars are nominated every year by the jury of experts. The winner is selected on the basis of the following criteria: bar type and bar concept, philosophy, consistency, innovation, service quality and choice of drinks.
