THE ST.REGIS LE MORNE REIMAGNES LUXURY IN MAURITIUS
On May 6, 2025, The St. Regis Le Morne Resort opened its doors, unveiling a renewed vision of coastal sophistication, timeless glamour, and immersive island luxury.

The St.Regis Le Morne opens in Mauritius. On the far southwestern tip of Mauritius, where the majestic Le Morne Brabant Mountain meets the crystalline waters of the Indian Ocean, an icon of elegance is making a grand return.
Formerly known as the JW Marriott Mauritius Resort, the reimagined all-suite property stands proudly on the island’s most prestigious address, nestled at the base of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and surrounded by some of the most sought-after beaches in the Indian Ocean.

More than a name change, the transition to The St. Regis brand marks a profound evolution in guest experience and identity. The resort promises to embody the legendary spirit of St. Regis—defined by gracious service, refined rituals, and a sense of storied grandeur. Helen Leighton, Vice President of Luxury Brands at Marriott International, emphasizes the importance of this transformation, stating that it reflects the brand’s ambition to elevate the world’s most exclusive destinations and reintroduce guests to the timeless glamour that has defined St. Regis for over a century.

The revitalized resort offers guests a curated blend of Mauritian charm and global elegance. Dining becomes a cultural journey at Le Manoir, where elevated versions of local favorites—like aromatic curries crafted from homegrown ingredients—delight the palate. La Patisserie, now redesigned in French colonial style, tempts guests with artisanal desserts such as the Signature Exotic, a tropical indulgence layered with passion fruit, banana, mango, poached pineapple, vanilla, and coconut mousse. Even the cocktails are steeped in narrative: the resort’s take on the classic Bloody Mary, the L’île Mary, incorporates Mauritian cane rum, curry leaves, lemon juice, cayenne, and a splash of mango vinegar, finished with masala foam for a daring twist on a timeless classic.

In true St. Regis fashion, daily rituals frame the guest experience. As the sun melts into the sea, a sabering ceremony marks the shift from day to night, recalling the brand’s Gilded Age origins. Afternoon Tea is served with a tropical flair, enjoyed by the shore or on the veranda, where colonial architecture and gentle sea breezes set a nostalgic scene.
Later in 2025, the resort will debut one of the largest private accommodations in the Indian Ocean: The St. Regis Grand Beachfront Villa. Inspired by the private estates beloved by the Astor family, this 1,659-square-meter sanctuary will feature four luxurious suites, expansive indoor and outdoor lounges, three plunge pools, a private infinity pool, and direct beach access—perfect for groups or families seeking a refined, residential-style retreat.
For those eager to explore beyond their suite, the resort offers a wide array of immersive experiences. Guests can hike the slopes of Le Morne Brabant with a private guide, pausing at scenic overlooks for refreshments and photo opportunities. Children are invited to discover the magic of kite flying along the breezy coastline as part of the resort’s thoughtful Family Traditions programming. Meanwhile, adrenaline-seekers can take to the water for private kite surfing lessons or chase the iconic One Eye wave, known to surfers worldwide. For a gentler pace, guests can snorkel, kayak, or set sail aboard The St. Regis Le Morne Pirogue—a restored Mauritian boat offering lagoon cruises, sunset voyages, and family fishing trips.

True to its legacy, The St. Regis Le Morne will deliver its renowned Butler Service, a symbol of the brand’s dedication to personalized luxury. Each detail, from pillow preferences to sunset cocktail rituals, will be tailored with care, ensuring an unforgettable stay. General Manager Mathieu de Tonnac describes the property as more than a resort—it is a destination shaped by heritage, natural beauty, and thoughtful design, redefined for today’s discerning traveler.

With prices starting at $5,985 for a seven-night stay in a Junior Suite, including breakfast, The St. Regis Le Morne Resort offers guests a rare blend of barefoot island bliss and cosmopolitan grandeur. This isn’t just a vacation—it’s a return to elegance, a celebration of craftsmanship, and an invitation to experience Mauritius from its most glamorous vantage point.
