THE RETURN OF AN ICON. THE ADDRESS DOWNTOWN REOPENS IN DUBAI
The Address Downtown Dubai hotel is back in business, finally welcoming overnight guests two years after a fire extensively damaged the property in 2015. The hotel, which is part of the Emaar Hospitality Group’s Address Hotels and Resorts brand, has long been one of the emirate’s most popular options for travellers, but it hasn’t been fully operational since New Year’s Eve 2016 when an electrical short circuit set the 63-storey tower ablaze, leaving 15 people injured.
Address Downtown has reopened with new restaurant concepts, additional rooms and suites, The Spa at Address Downtown, and a brand-new interior design.
The hotel opening comes close to the Dubai developer’s aim to reopen in 2017, in a ‘record time’. The Address Downtown Dubai was previously pushing for a 2017 reopening, Emaar Properties chairman Mohamed Alabbar confirmed to Reuters in March 2017.
The 302 metres-high and 63-storey hotel has 220 guest rooms and suites that open to views of the Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Fountain.
Address Downtown is introducing its ‘The Restaurant’ concept, which is also at Address Boulevard, and is designed in the style of an avant-garde French apartment with spaces from the Living Room to the Kitchen. Also open is the Lounge, which serves a la carte meals and afternoon tea; and Katana, which will showcase robatayaki-style cuisine.
Some of the soon-to-be-opened outlets are The Galliard, STK, the Cigar Lounge that will offer guests a range of cigars including limited editions from some of Cuba and South America’s cigar houses, and the Club Lounge. Neos is also reopening on Level 63 and Zeta at the lobby level will open shortly.
