WELCOME… INTO THE FUTURE! QUANTUM OF SEAS IS THE FIRST SMART SHIP IN THE WORLD!
They say the most beautiful, simple and elegant way to see the world is on board of a cruise ship. Now, with the launch of Quantum of the Seas, you experience a whole new dimension of cruise traveling thanks to ultimate technology features. Considered to be the world’s most technologically advanced cruise ship in the world, Quantum of the Seas exceeds all expectations and turns into reality even the most daring science fiction scenarios.
We love cruise ships and nothing compares to the feeling of freedom you have it when you’re on the last deck of the vessel, in the middle of the ocean, and the infinity unfolds in hundreds of blue shades in front of you. I have always wondered how it would be like to fly a helicopter over the ocean and how does it feel to see a panoramic view of a cruise ship. It seemed impossible until we were invited to the launch event of Quantum of the Seas, the world’s first Smart cruise ship.
NORTH STAR, an engineering marvel, gives you the opportunity to admire both the vessel and the endless stretch of water from a glass booth shaped as a precious diamond rising up to 93 meters above the ship and about 400 meters above sea level. The sensation is unique, difficult to describe in words.
The first ever cruise of Quantum of the Seas took place during the last days of October and we departed for a two day adventure from South Hampton Harbor, England. The ship, announced as revolutionary and much waited by the experts in the industry, exceeds all expectations and confirms Royal Caribbean ‘s passion for innovation.
In an Era when people can’t afford to lose contact with the benefits of modern technology, Quantum Of The Seas adapts to new requirements and introduces a number of innovations used for the first time on a cruise ship. Guests can stay connected online 24/7 if they choose to be, thanks to superfast wireless speeds that match broadband connections onshore, while RFID luggage tags provide the option of tracking
luggage in real time via smartphones, and a downloadable app, Royal iQ, allowing the guests to manage every detail of their vacation during the cruise.
The WOW Factors
Royal Caribbean added to its portfolio of exclusive, groundbreaking onboard experiences that have never before been imagined at sea with a skydiving experience called RipCord by iFLY, as well as the engineering marvel North Star, the glass observation capsule that gently rises
more than 93 meters in the air to treat guests to dramatic 360-degree views.
More “firsts” including bumper cars, a circus school with flying trapeze and roller skating can be found inside SeaPlex, the largest indoor active space at sea.
Technology headlines Quantum’s entertainment with a lineup of first of their kind productions and performances, and is most prevalent in the ship’s transformational new venue Two70. Here the most highly advanced digital displays, Vistarama and Roboscreens, intertwine
with live performers, music and special effects to deliver spectacular, multidimensional shows and events that have never before been seen on land, let alone at sea. The Royal Theater is home to Broadway’s smash hit musical MAMMA MIA! as well as an all-new headline show,
Sonic Odyssey, which was inspired by musician and innovator William Close and his variety of one-of-a-kind majestic instruments, while the all-new Music Hall sets the stage for live music featuring bands, musicians, DJs, theme night parties and more.
Dynamic Dining
The concept of DYNAMIC DINING has been introduced for the first time on a cruise ship belonging to Royal Carribean. Instead of just one main restaurant there are now no less than 18 restaurants, 11 of which are available to guests at no extra charge, based only on a reservation that you can make on your Royal IQ application on the first day of your cruise. Smart, isn’t it?
The remaining other seven special restaurants are conceptual and are taking the culinary experience to unimaginable dimensions. They are only ccessible to passengers upon a fee ranging between 40-60 dollars per night and reservations can be made online. Famous chefs such as Jamie Oliver, Michael Schwartz and Devin Alexander have their own restaurants on the cruise ship. Please read the review of the fabulous Wonderland restaurant HERE.
On board of Quantum of the Seas you can find no less that 20 bars and the main attraction is, beyond a doubt, the BIONIC BAR . Two cute robots replacing the waiters are taking mixology to a whole new level. You just have to place your order on an iPad and the robots will serve you the best cocktail you have ever tasted. After seeing the Bionic Bar, your first impulse will be to access your Instagram account and post a photo with the Hashtag #technologygonemad.
