QATAR AIRWAYS INAUGURATES DAILY FLIGHTS TO SEYCHELLES

Qatar Airways landed in Seychelles on Monday, December 12, on what is the start of their seven weekly flights to the mid-ocean islands. After the four-hour flight from Doha in Qatar, the airline was given a warm welcome inclusive of a water-jet salute.

It was Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine, who was personally at the airport to welcome the inaugural Qatar Airways flight QR678 from Doha, Qatar. He was accompanied by Captain Savy, the Chairman of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA); Garry Albert, the PS for Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine; Anne Lafortune, the PS for Tourism; Gilbert Faure, the CEO of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA); and Sherin Francis, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB); among other airport and government officials, together with local dignitaries.

As part of the welcome ceremony, a group of local dancers dressed in traditional costumes performed cultural dances and songs while school children from state schools and the International School of Seychelles also greeted the arrival with flags.

Qatar Airways is operating seven flights per week with a daily flight from Seychelles to over 150 destinations worldwide via Doha.
