PRECIOUS MOMENTS AT BLUEBAY BEACH RESORT AND SPA, ZANZIBAR
Zanzibar Island lies 35 km off the Eastern Coast of Africa and is one of the two main islands of an autonomous state within the larger Republic of Tanzania. Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa and its sister property Sultan Sands Island Resort are situated on the wide, sparkling beaches of Kiwengwa on the East Coast of the island. The properties share 475m of tropical coastline.
The resort is located in the Kiwengwa region, renowned worldwide for its white sand beaches and the many shades of blue and green of the Indian Ocean.
The majority of the resort’s rooms and suites are perched on a raised outcrop overlooking the private gardens and pool, some with views out to the ocean. All rooms include en suite bathrooms, external verandas or balconies, air-conditioning and ceiling fans, mini-bars, hair-dryers, telephones, satellite television, electronic safes and tea and coffee making facilities. The most basic rooms are the Garden Rooms. These are somewhat removed from the coast and the hotel’s amenities. They do not offer exciting views. However, they are reasonably sized and comfortable with large beds.
The resort’s Superior Rooms offer the same facilities, but are slightly larger and in a far better location. They are raised up, overlooking the hotel’s gardens, the pool and the ocean.
The hotel’s private Club24 section boasts 24 newer rooms with various private facilities especially for Club24 guests. Club24 rooms are all sea view with access to a free-flow pool with separate Jacuzzi and a separate lounge-bar and restaurant. They are suitable for those for whom the idea of being removed from the bustle of the main resort appeals.
Junior Suites in a secluded wing close to the beach are also available. These offer private lounge areas and luxury décor as well as access to exclusive sections of the resort. Sultan Suites provide the resort’s most exclusive accommodation. These are very large and located just a few meters from the beach. They also feature a private butler service.
Food and Drink at Bluebay Beach Resort and Spa
The resort’s main restaurant serves buffet breakfast and dinner. There is much variety in the food and each night the menu is themed differently. The a la carte lunch restaurant offers better food (though this costs extra) including stone baked pizzas and good burgers. The beach side restaurant (costs extra) is often closed in the evening due to low-demand from the majority of the hotel’s half-board clientele.
Activities at Bluebay Beach Resort and Spa
A range of water sports and other activities can be arranged at the Recreation & Water Sports Centre including: Big Game Fishing; boat trips & dhow cruises; windsurfing; and beach sports. There is also a children’s club (Toto Club), floodlit tennis court; table tennis & pool tables and a fully equipped gymnasium.
The Oasis Spa is situated at Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa. The experienced staff offer an impressive range of treatments – ideal for massages, de-stressing and rejuvenation.
