The City of the Future Meets Timeless Tranquility

Anchored above the sleek Takanawa Gateway Station, the JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo is perfectly poised between the serenity of traditional Japan and the pulse of modern Tokyo. The hotel’s location couldn’t be more convenient—just a 20-minute ride from Haneda Airport and within walking distance of Shinagawa Station, soon to be the terminus for the Chuo Shinkansen that will link Tokyo to Nagoya and Osaka at lightning speed.

But beyond its enviable connectivity, the JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo offers something rare in one of the world’s busiest metropolises: a true sense of calm. Designed as a “timeless sanctuary,” the hotel captures the essence of Zen philosophyand the natural landscapes of Takanawa, offering guests an immersive experience where modern elegance meets Japanese mindfulness.

JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo represents a milestone in our global journey—a place where luxury feels warm, grounded, and deeply personal,” said Bruce Rohr, Vice President and Global Brand Leader of JW Marriott. “We’re thrilled to introduce our new Mindful Rooms & Suites concept to Asia right here in Tokyo, reaffirming our commitment to well-being and holistic hospitality.”

A Design Journey Through Light, Nature, and Art

Every corner of the JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo reflects a dialogue between art and nature. Designed by the internationally acclaimed studio Yabu Pushelberg, the hotel’s interiors are a symphony of natural materials, muted tones, and organic forms.

Guests enter through an understated ground-floor entrance, greeted by abstract Japanese artworks and a stunning installation that mirrors Mount Fuji—a poetic nod to the mountain once visible from nearby Shinagawa. This theme of harmony continues upward to the 30th-floor reception, where floor-to-ceiling windows reveal sweeping views of Tokyo Bay and Gotenyama Hill.

Inside, the Lobby Lounge centers around “The Tree House,” a luminous sculpture crafted from glass leaves and shells by Czech glassmaker Lasvit. The result is an atmosphere that feels both ethereal and intimate—a modern reimagining of a Zen garden suspended in the sky.

Rooms That Invite Stillness

The hotel’s 200 guest rooms and suites are minimalist yet richly textured, inspired by the earthy beauty of a Japanese garden. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame cinematic views of the Tokyo skyline, while natural wood finishes and soft lighting evoke a sense of peace and balance.

Bathrooms feature indulgent, sustainable amenities that encourage slow, intentional living—a reflection of JW Marriott’s holistic ethos. The highlight is the Mindful Rooms & Suites, launching in December 2025, designed for travelers seeking spaces that nurture rest, reflection, and connection.

Culinary Artistry Elevated

Dining at JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo is nothing short of an experience. Culinary Director Conrado Tromp, a global chef with over 25 years of experience, curates an inspired collection of restaurants and bars that celebrate innovation, authenticity, and mindfulness.

At Kakō, guests can savor washoku cuisine crafted with precision and artistry—dishes that mirror the changing seasons and honor Japan’s culinary heritage. The restaurant’s JW Garden grows local herbs used in cocktails and dishes, reinforcing the brand’s sustainable approach.

For a more intimate experience, Saki, an eight-seat kappo restaurant, delivers an avant-garde culinary performance led by Chef Kazumine Nishida of two-Michelin-starred Shoukouwa and Chef Emmanuel Stroobant of Saint Pierre. The collaboration yields an exceptional marriage of Japanese and French techniques, making dining here both personal and theatrical.

Meanwhile, Sefino, the modern Mediterranean restaurant on the 29th floor, brings sunlit European vibrancy to Tokyo with dishes that celebrate freshness, seasonality, and sustainability—designed in partnership with Chef Agustin Balbi of one-Michelin-starred Andō.

For lighter fare, Le Cres reinvents the humble croissant with Japanese flavors like matcha and yuzu, while the JW Barserves timeless cocktails and champagnes with Tokyo’s glittering skyline as its backdrop.

Wellness Above the City

On the 28th floor, the Spa by JW offers holistic treatments that blend contemporary wellness with Japanese healing traditions. The serene pool, set against a quarry-inspired stone wall, provides panoramic views of Tokyo Tower, while the Fitness Center features cutting-edge equipment for those wishing to maintain their routines.

For business or celebration, the hotel’s 1,140 square meters of event space—including Japan’s largest ballroom with 270° movable LED walls—sets a new benchmark for sophistication and flexibility in Tokyo’s event scene.

Family, Connection, and Mindful Moments

In keeping with JW Marriott’s philosophy of nurturing connections, the hotel also introduces Family by JW, a complimentary program that engages young travelers with creativity and play. Children receive illustrated activity booklets featuring origami and quizzes, and upon completion, a JW-branded pochette filled with sweets—a charming touch that embodies the hotel’s warmth and inclusivity.

We’re honored to open our doors in Tokyo and bring our signature approach to luxury—rooted in well-being and mindfulness—to this extraordinary city,” said Christopher Clark, General Manager of JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo. “Our goal is to create a sanctuary where guests can connect deeply—with themselves, with others, and with the beauty of Tokyo.”
