HOTEL SPIRITO SANTO PALAZZO STORICO OPENS IN ROVINJ
Croatia continues to top travelers’ wish lists, and the dreamy Istria peninsula is among the must-visit destinations. The fishing port of Rovinj is considered one of the most romantic towns in Istria: a tangle of narrow cobblestoned alleys and atmospheric squares—with beautiful beaches nearby.
Housed in a historic building (circa 1920s) that used to belong to a noble Italian family, the Hotel Spirito Santo Palazzo Storico is the result of a meticulous restoration project that incorporates three adjacent buildings.
The hotel has just seven guest rooms designed with traditional materials and custom furnishings. Some of the rooms have fireplaces and/or terraces with views over the old town’s rooftops and the Adriatic sea beyond. All are equipped with contemporary conveniences like free wifi and flat-screen TVs. Booking tip: One of the most spacious is the Trevisol Room, which comes with a large fireplace, restored freso, and Chopard amenities in the bathrooms. The Monte Room is the same size and offers wonderful sea views.
Istria is renowned for its cuisine—reflecting a mélange of influences, including neighboring Italy—and the Spirito Santo lounge bar serves up a variety of local specialties; think prosciutto, carpaccio, truffles, asparagus, and fresh seafood. These light plates are paired with a variety of wines from the wine vault. In the colder months, a fireplace creates a cozy ambiance. The lounge overlooks a garden with a water tank dating from 1964.
