City Hotels, News

There’s a new luxury address to add to your rolodex when in Paris. Just steps from Place de la Madeleine on rue de l’Arcade, an elegant five-star hotel called the Alfred Sommier has opened inside a hôtel particulier (or a nobleman’s mansion) once belonging to a prominent family of industrialists in the 19th century. The project is the brainchild of one of the descendants, owner Richard de Warren.

Hotel Alfred Sommier is named for the building’s first resident, who is famous for having bought and restored the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte outside Paris. This Haussmannian mansion is rich in original architectural details; think parquet floors, painted wall frescos, fireplaces, gilded mouldings, and a monumental staircase.
