This summer, however, Grand Hotel Fasano is offering guests something even more memorable than its breathtaking lakeside setting: an immersive culinary journey that celebrates the flavours, traditions and creativity of one of Italy’s most captivating regions.

Family-owned and steeped in history since 1888, when it was originally built as a hunting lodge for the Austrian royal family, Grand Hotel Fasano has unveiled an ambitious collection of new gastronomic experiences designed to deepen guests’ connection with Lake Garda. From the debut of an elegant new lakeside bistro and exclusive private cooking experiences in a traditional Italian village to an inventive cocktail collection inspired by the lake’s most iconic destinations, every element has been thoughtfully created to showcase the authenticity of northern Italian cuisine.

Combined with new seasonal menus across the hotel’s acclaimed restaurants, including its Michelin-starred dining room, Grand Hotel Fasano is transforming itself into one of Lake Garda’s most exciting culinary destinations.

A New Social Heart: Welcome to Bistrò 1888

At the centre of the hotel’s summer launch is Bistrò 1888, a sophisticated new all-day dining venue nestled within Grand Hotel Fasano’s lush lakeside gardens. More than simply another restaurant, the bistro has been conceived as the property’s social hub—a place where guests can drift effortlessly from leisurely lunches to elegant afternoon cocktails while immersed in the relaxed beauty of the lake.

Its name pays tribute to the year the property first opened, subtly blending the hotel’s rich heritage with a fresh contemporary spirit. Surrounded by fragrant Mediterranean gardens and framed by glimpses of shimmering Lake Garda, the open-air setting perfectly captures the slow rhythm of an Italian summer.

The menu, created under the guidance of Executive Chef Valerio Dallamano and his culinary team, embraces uncomplicated luxury. Fresh seasonal salads, refined light dishes and comforting classics are prepared using exceptional local ingredients. Guests can indulge in a perfectly executed Caprese salad, an indulgent club sandwich, or homemade artisan gelato while enjoying one of the region’s finest lakefront settings.

Complementing the cuisine is an extensive wine selection alongside expertly crafted cocktails and sophisticated alcohol-free alternatives, making Bistrò 1888 equally suited to a relaxed lunch, an afternoon refreshment or a sunset aperitivo overlooking the water.

Discovering Lake Garda Through Its Kitchen

For travellers seeking something far more immersive than a restaurant reservation, Grand Hotel Fasano has introduced a deeply personal culinary experience that takes guests beyond the hotel and into the heart of local life.

The Private Cooking Experience transports guests to the picturesque hillside village of Tresnico, where local chef Fabio opens the doors of his traditional family home for an intimate six-hour cooking journey.

Rather than a formal demonstration, this experience offers genuine cultural immersion. Guided throughout by a dedicated interpreter, guests discover family recipes that have been passed down through generations while learning about the traditions, history and daily rhythms of Lake Garda’s rural communities.

Every menu is tailored individually, allowing participants to master handmade pasta, delicate ravioli, pillowy gnocchi or classic lasagna before moving on to regional meat dishes, seasonal lake fish or beloved Italian desserts. Along the way, Chef Fabio shares the techniques that define authentic northern Italian cooking—from creating fresh pasta dough by hand to preparing traditional sauces and mastering regional meat and fish preparations.

The experience concludes exactly as every memorable Italian meal should: around a welcoming table enjoying the dishes prepared together, accompanied by carefully selected local wines, a classic Garda-style Spritz and homemade lemon verbena liqueur.

It is less a cooking lesson than an invitation into the soul of Lake Garda.

Seven Cocktails That Tell the Story of a Lake

One of the season’s most imaginative additions arrives at the hands of award-winning Bar Manager Rama Redzepi, whose entirely new cocktail programme transforms mixology into a journey around Lake Garda itself.

Entitled The Seven Wonders of Lake Garda, the collection celebrates seven of the lake’s most iconic towns through cocktails inspired by their landscapes, flavours and histories.

Each creation highlights ingredients that are deeply rooted in the surrounding territory. Garda olive oil, fragrant citrus from Limone sul Garda, saffron from Riva, truffles from Malcesine and celebrated regional wines become integral elements of drinks that are as expressive as they are elegant.

Among the highlights is Tramonto Tassoni, inspired by the romantic sunsets of Salò, combining citrus fruits, orchard apples and delicate bitters to mirror the colours that illuminate the western shoreline each evening.

The earthy sophistication of Terra di Malcesine pays homage to the region’s prized truffles, while Il Rosso di Bardolino offers a lighter, summery interpretation of traditional mulled wine using the celebrated Bardolino DOC.

Perhaps the most unexpected creation is La Perla del Garda, inspired by the elegance of Sirmione. Combining Fior di Latte gelato, basil, olive oil, lemon and sparkling wine, it reinvents the classic Venetian sgroppino with distinctly local character.

Completing the collection is Il Rosa di Moniga, a graceful tribute to Chiaretto rosé, layered with fresh fruit, citrus and delicate floral notes.

Served at both Rama’s Lounge Bar and La Terrazza, the collection offers guests an entirely new way to explore the lake—one cocktail at a time.

Celebrating the Seasons Across Every Restaurant

Grand Hotel Fasano’s culinary evolution extends throughout its celebrated restaurants, each offering its own interpretation of Lake Garda’s seasonal abundance.

At Osteria Il Pescatore, Lake Garda’s own waters inspire many of the signature dishes. Fresh local fish appears alongside vibrant seasonal produce, with refined plates such as Lake Garda chub accompanied by citrus-infused carrot, sea buckthorn and aromatic incense demonstrating a delicate balance between regional tradition and contemporary technique.

Magnolia embraces a lighter approach to summer dining beneath the shade of magnificent 200-year-old magnolia trees. Guests can compose bespoke seasonal salads or choose from freshly prepared fish and pasta specials that change according to the day’s finest market ingredients.

For those seeking an unforgettable gastronomic occasion, the hotel’s Michelin-starred Il Fagiano continues to set the benchmark for fine dining on Lake Garda.

Executive Chef Maurizio Bufi has unveiled a new seasonal tasting experience where regional ingredients are elevated through refined modern technique. Signature creations include an elegant lemon, burrata and liquorice risotto alongside delicately prepared Lake Garda carpione with trombetta zucchini. Vegetarian tasting menus and carefully curated cocktail pairings further reinforce the restaurant’s reputation for culinary innovation.
