EXPLORE WOODINVILLE WINE COUNTRY JUST OUTSIDE SEATTLE

News

Woodinville Wine Country is just 30 minutes Northeast of Seattle but it’s an escape far from the bustle of city life. This picturesque town nestled in the Sammamish River Valley is where the grapes of Eastern Washington meet the vintners who are making exceptional wines.

Local enthusiasts and out-of-town visitors are spoiled for choice when it comes to tasting rooms. Woodinville is home to the highest concentration of 90+ point production wineries in a square mile, the greatest concentration of top wineries anywhere in the world.

The majority of Washington’s vineyards are east of the Cascade Mountains. Contrary to Seattle’s reputation as a rain-soaked city, Eastern Washington is actually a semi-arid desert with high summer temperatures. Of the state’s 14 AVAs, 13 of them are east of the Cascade Mountain range.

NAMES TO KNOW

Mike Januik (Novelty Hill-Januik Winery) was named by Wine Enthusiast Magazine as one of 10 “Masters of Merlot” in the world.
