FROM DUBAI TO ABU DHABI IN JUST 12 MINUTES. IT’S POSSIBLE WITH THE HYPERLOOP ONE
The future of short-distance travel is here. Soon enough you can reach Abu Dhabi from Dubai in just 12 minute thanks to Hyperloop system, which would see passengers travelling between the emirates in special pods at 1,200 kilometres per hour.
Los Angeles-based company Hyperloop One plans to introduce the world’s first operational Hyperloop system, which would see passengers travelling between the emirates in special pods at 1,200 kilometres per hour (remember, the maximum speed of a Boeing 747 is 825 kilometres per hour). So yes, that means a journey from Dubai to Abu Dhabi will take only 12 minutes.
The system could later be expanded to link the UAE with neighbouring Gulf countries so that a trip between Dubai and Saudi capital Riyadh – currently two hours by plane – could be completed in under 50 minutes.
The company is planning to demonstrate a working version of the under-development technology in 2018 and, has already signed an earlier agreementwith ports operator DP World to pursue a cargo Hyperloop One system at its deepwater Jebel Ali port.
According to the RTA, no concrete timeline for launch of the futuristic transportation system has been confirmed, with feasibility studies still underway.
