OPENING THIS FEBRUARY! COTTON HOUSE HOTEL, A SOPHISTICATED STAY IN THE NOBLEST BARCELONA
This February sees the opening of the Cotton House Hotel ***** in Barcelona, an exclusive luxury boutique hotel that belongs to the independent hotel collection Autograph Collection by Marriott.
On the 23rd of February The Cotton House Hotel, a five-star hotel located in the former home of the Cotton Textile Foundation – “Fundación Textil Algodonera” – will open its doors in Barcelona’s central Gran Vía. Since it was built at the end of the 19th century, the Cotton House became a landmark in the city: built by members of the Barcelona bourgeoisie when the textile industry was at its height, the building was planned conserving the neoclassical tradition typical of the period but with a marked modern focus.
After an exhaustive restoration and refurbishment process, the build has now become a sophisticated hotel that has kept the essence of this historic building intact: its guests will live the experience of staying in a real house in the heart of the Ensanche district, an icon of 19th-century Catalan bourgeoisie and the perfect starting point for exploring the fascinating city of Barcelona. The new Cotton House Hotel will have an experienced team of people who will offer the most exquisite service in the city, combining the personal touch and authenticity of an independent hotel with the backing and confidence afforded by a powerful international chain such as Marriott.
The acclaimed interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán has been responsible for decorating all parts of the hotel, reflecting a contemporary and sophisticated style. The original elements of the building have been conserved, such as the imposing marble staircase and a spiral staircase, suspended in the air in the frame of the upper floor; frescoes, delicate parquet and boiserie embellishing ceilings, floors and walls. At the same time, all the installations of the building have been completely replaced, resulting in a distinguished setting full of history, yet modern and comfortable at the same time.
The hotel has 83 refined and comfortable rooms, 7 of which are spacious suites. Entrance to the building is gained through a beautiful porch covered in mirrors, leading to an octagonal hall providing access to the two staircases, the marble staircase and the spiral staircase. The former public areas of the building, open to all guests, now house an elegant library, the restaurant and cocktail bar, a light-filled conservatory and a 300 m2 terrace with terrace with lush vegetation. On the sixth floor we find the outdoor pool, the gym and the beauty treatment room.
One of the unique features of the hotel will be the Gossypium area (“cotton” in Latin), a reinvention of the traditional concierge service giving guests all the information they need about Barcelona. This is a delicate personalized service that will be offered in an exclusive area on the first floor of the building.
