The Buddha-Bar Beach pop up at Dr Ali’s Restaurant at Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort is happening from 20 December 2017 to 20 January 2018. The resort has also partnered with Barrio Latino, bringing its most colourful, sparkling and vibrant atmosphere to the resort’s much-loved restaurant Fashala.

In addition, Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa has collaborated with Patron Tequila to create a Tequila & Margarita Bar on the shores of Fashala, perfectly complementing the restaurant’s offerings. The Patron Tequila & Margarita Bar will boast an expert mixologist, who will create and customise a range of tequila based cocktails for the duration of the partnership, as well as daily “Patron of the day” mixology lessons.

The other highlight of the season will be the New Year’s Eve White Party, when the island of Villingili will transform into a white tropical paradise with themed decorations and glamorous cabanas draped elegantly across the resort. With the year-end holiday season just around the corner, Michaël Bartocetti, the Head Pastry Chef at Shangri-La Hotel, Paris, drew inspiration from his childhood memories to create an unusual twist on the Christmas log: a top that’s as delightful to behold as it is to eat. The Magic Top offers up several layers of surprises in a medley of perfectly balanced flavors and textures: a savvy blend of a rich mousse made of Madong chocolate from Papua New Guinea, crispy hazelnut praline, creamy gianduja and velvety gingerbread cake rests on a hazelnut crisp made with fleur de sel and dusted with a powdery layer of 66% Caribbean chocolate. After tasting the upper portion of the Christmas log, guests may savor its base, a delicious mendiant of dried fruit and nuts. Serves 8 people. Price: 118 €.
