THE BEST DESIGN HOTELS IN EUROPE – 2014
The best designer hotels and restaurants in Europe have received this year’s European Hotel Design Awards. The awards celebrate the work of the architects, designers and hotel operators in terms of exceptional design and architecture.
The European Hotel Design Awards were handed out in a ceremony attended by over 800 guests. 13 awards have been given to the best design hotels on the continent, based on the exceptional design and architecture.
And the awards went to:
1. Architecture – Adaptive Re-use
Fontevraud L’Hôtel, France – By Gabor Mester De Parajd (see photos below)
Located in the historic monument of Fontevraud-l’Abbaye (UNESCO World Heritage Site), one of the largest surviving monastic cities from the Middle Ages, on the Loire Valley, France, between Touraine and Anjou.
2. Architecture – Newbuild
Lanserhof Tegernsee, Marienstein, Germany – By Ingenhoven Architects
It is the most modern prevention and regeneration center in Europe. Beside the medical treatment area a fireside lounge, library, restaurant, meeting rooms and VIP rooms complete the concept of an exclusive hotel.

Generator Venice, Italy – By DesignAgency
8. Interior Design – Restaurant
Berners Tavern and Punch Room at The London EDITION, UK – By Yabu Pushelberg in collaboration with I.S.C Design Studio
9. Interior Design – Spa & Wellness

Posthumously awarded to Alex Calderwood, Co-founder of Ace Hotel

13. The European Hotel Design of the Year Award
