AQUA SEASON AT SIX SENSES LAAMU, MALDIVES
Six Senses Laamu is happy to reintroduce another Aqua Season from May 1 to October 31. Turtle nesting season has already started and the series of events this year include the celebration of International Surfing Day, Global Wellness Day and World Turtle Day.
Surfing Season in Six Senses Laamu
Surfing Season lasts from April to October. “Off the hook” waters would be from May to September. The Yin Yang, one of the most famous surf breaks in Maldives, breaks on the outer reef of the local island of Hithadhoo, only a few minutes away from the resort. Trips to the Yin Yang can be organized on a daily basis and most of the time, guests can have the waves to themselves. And for those eager to learn how to surf, a smaller wave breaks just by the hotel’s beach.
International Surfing Day
Every year around the summer solstice (June 21), at Six Senses Laamu they commemorate International Surfing Day. The hotel’s team, together with partner Ocean Dimensions, invites the children from the Maamendhoo local school and their Surf Club to join the surfer guests on this day. As part of the sustainable surfing concept, a representative team of Six Senses Laamu will visit their island and install segregation bins to their school and give a small presentation on the importance of recycling.
Aquafitness
From July 9 to 19, Six Senses Laamu welcomes Aquafit specialist Nancy Durrenberger, who will be conducting a series of fun and exciting water based fitness classes for guests which include aquafit, aquagym, aqua jogging and aqua power. She will also offer two sunset aqua yoga sessions during her stay.
Celebrity Chefs
Have you ever met a surfing chef? The hotel welcomes Chef Miki for four dinners and a chance to surf with him from July 28 to August 5. He has been cooking and managing restaurants in Japan, Maldives and Australia for more than 25 years. Apart from food, which he considers a major part of his life, he also has a big love for surfing and traveling to surf. He has surfed waves in more than 20 countries.
From August 16 to 23, they will have the Manganaro – Merrett duo back in the kitchen. They will offer three signature dinners during their stay. They are no strangers to our locally grown fresh ingredients which they really enjoy cooking with.
Resident DJs
This Aqua Season, Six Senses Laamu welcomes back two DJs that really know how to create a magical musical journey and make sunsets in Chill Bar unique. From May 10 to August 6, they will have Nacho Sotomayor on the decks. Nacho’s signature sounds create unique emotions and bring out the most intense feelings from every Maldivian sunset.
From August 8 to November 3, they are welcoming back to Chill Bar, Dezarate who knows how to give an electrical vibe to the evenings with his Balearic sounds and soft beats.
